When you purchase an Echo device, the next step involves learning how to configure Alexa settings.
In this case, this initial adjustment process is done by your cell phone and your device only needs to be connected to the socket.
So in a few minutes, you will be able to interact with the assistant and perform voice commands.
But before you start installing your Alexa, install the Alexa app for mobile (android | iOS). Within the application you must log in with your Amazon account.
Through the app, you can now perform voice commands and request actions. See below the step-by-step guide on how to set up Alexa on your device!
How Alexa works
Let's talk about Alexa, a virtual assistant provided by Amazon. Since 2019, it has been available on devices and apps in Brazil, focusing on automating routines and voice commands.
With a simple call to Alexa, you can ask it to play music, create shopping lists, call contacts and respond to information about everyday life.
But the possibilities with Alexa also expand to the idea of a connected home. Devices such as Smart TVs, sockets and lamps can be integrated with the assistant and perform functions based on voice commands.
Despite being present in apps, Alexa is very popular on devices from Amazon's Echo line. This includes generations of the Echo Dot, the brand's smart speaker, and the Echo Show.
Which is a version that comes with a display to view information on the screen.
Use your phone to set up Alexa
- First, you must open the Alexa app and log in with your Amazon account. Then, go to the “Devices” tab and tap the “+” icon;
- Then on the next screen, choose the category of the device you want to configure. Select “Amazon Echo” for the brand’s speakers and displays;
- Then, choose the exact model of your device to proceed;
- Plug your device into the power outlet and check if it displays an orange light. On new devices, this process is automatic. If you want to reset a previously configured device, you need to press the action button until the light turns orange;
- Keep Bluetooth turned on on your phone. The app will then find devices available for connection. Tap on the name to proceed;
- Finally, connect to your Wi-Fi network to set up the device with Alexa.
Next step
After you complete this initial setup, Amazon's virtual assistant will ask you a few additional questions, which you can skip.
Using the mobile app, you can customize Alexa to your preferences. As well as saving your voice, linking music app services and adding skills are some of the possibilities.
Because now that you know how to configure your Alexa your way and with the configuration ready, you can use voice commands with Alexa and make your day-to-day easier!
